Fall Is Officially Here: Feel Your Best Through the Season at Elizabethton Chiropractic
Sep 21, 2026
It's official now. The calendar says fall arrives this week, and the mountains already got the memo — there's a little color showing up high on Roan, the mornings need a jacket, and the woodsmoke smell is back in the evenings. Football is in full swing on Friday nights, the leaves are starting to collect along the fence line, and the trails are about to be at their best. It's one of the finest stretches of the year in Carter County. It's also the stretch where a body gets asked to do a lot: raking and hauling on Saturday, climbing bleachers on Friday, walking miles of trail on Sunday, and keeping up with a full week in between. This week we're focused on carrying you through all of it — a clear head for the young athletes on the field, real relief for the leg pain that stops you halfway down the driveway, better circulation and faster recovery as the temperatures drop, whole-food support for your heart and brain, and a steady foundation for every mile of fall you plan to walk.
Please note: On Thursday, September 24 we will close at 10:30am and reopen at 3:30pm. On Friday, September 25 we will close at 10:30am for the day. Please plan your visits accordingly — we appreciate your understanding.

Support a Full Recovery After a Concussion with BrainCore Neurofeedback
Friday night football, soccer on Saturday, a fall off the bike in the driveway, a slip on wet leaves. Fall is peak season for bumps to the head, and most of the time the doctor says what you hoped to hear: rest, take it easy, and it'll clear up. Often it does. But some kids — and plenty of adults — are still dealing with the leftovers weeks later: headaches that keep coming back, trouble concentrating in class, a short fuse, fog, sleep that isn't right. The scan was clear and the checkup was fine, so everybody is puzzled about why things still feel off. Here's what's worth knowing: a concussion is a disruption in how the brain is working, not a picture of structural damage, and the brain's working patterns are something we can actually measure and train.
A word of caution first: every head injury needs to be evaluated by a physician, and any worsening headache, repeated vomiting, confusion, unusual drowsiness, seizure, or weakness is an emergency — go to the ER. Return-to-play decisions belong to your child's doctor and the athletic trainer, not to us. BrainCore Neurofeedback is complementary care that works alongside proper medical management, never instead of it.
What Is BrainCore Neurofeedback?
BrainCore Neurofeedback is a brainwave training program that uses real-time feedback to teach the brain how to regulate itself. It begins with a qualitative EEG brain map, a painless measurement of brainwave activity across the scalp that shows where the patterns have drifted out of balance — including the kind of disruption that often lingers after a concussion. From there, a customized training protocol is built for that specific brain. During a session, sensors read brainwave activity while the person watches a video or listens to audio, and the feedback rewards the brain whenever it produces a healthier pattern. Nothing is sent into the head — the sensors only read. Over many repetitions, the brain learns to hold those healthier patterns on its own. No medication, no needles, and nothing painful about it.
How BrainCore Neurofeedback Supports Concussion Recovery
- Shows What the Scan Can't. A CT or MRI looks at structure. The brain map looks at function, which is where the lingering symptoms of a concussion actually live.
- Targets the Specific Disruption. Every concussion is different. Training is built from your own map, not a generic protocol.
- Supports Clearer Thinking. The fog, the slow processing, the trouble following a lecture or a conversation — these are regulation patterns that training can address.
- Supports Fewer Post-Injury Headaches. Better overall regulation often means headaches that come less often and hit less hard.
- Helps With Focus in the Classroom. Kids recovering from a concussion frequently struggle to hold attention. Training supports the brain's ability to lock in and stay there.
- Supports Emotional Regulation. Irritability and a short temper are common after a head injury and hard on the whole family. They tend to improve as the brain steadies.
- Supports Better Sleep. Rest is the foundation of recovery, and a brain that can't downshift at night recovers slower.
- Gives You an Objective Follow-Up. A repeat map shows progress in real data, which is reassuring for a parent who's been told to "wait and see."
Benefits at a Glance
- Drug-Free: Nothing to take and no side effects to manage.
- Non-Invasive: The sensors read activity — nothing is sent into the brain.
- Objective Starting Point: Real data on how the brain is functioning right now.
- Individualized: Every protocol is built from that person's own map.
- All Ages: Young athletes, working adults, and grandparents alike.
If "wait and see" has turned into weeks, it's worth a closer look. Contact our office to schedule a BrainCore brain map.
Walk Farther Without Leg Pain and Numbness: Spinal Stenosis and the DRX9000
You know the walk you're thinking of. Halfway down the driveway to the mailbox, or a few aisles into the grocery store, your legs start to feel heavy, tingly, or just plain tired, and your low back tightens up. You lean on the cart or find a place to sit, and in a few minutes it eases — then the whole thing starts over. A lot of folks assume that's just what getting older feels like. Very often it's spinal stenosis: a narrowing of the space the nerves travel through in the lower back, so that standing and walking pinch them and bending forward gives them room. And it matters this time of year, because fall is when you want to be walking — the trails, the fair, the games, the leaf-raking — not looking for the next bench.
What Is DRX9000 Spinal Decompression?
The DRX9000 is a computer-controlled spinal decompression system that gently and precisely stretches the lumbar spine to create negative pressure inside the discs. That negative pressure helps draw bulging disc material back toward the center and away from the nerves, and it pulls fluid, oxygen, and nutrients into discs that have very little blood supply of their own. Sessions are done fully clothed, lying comfortably on a padded table, and most people find them relaxing — a fair number fall asleep. It is non-surgical, drug-free, and delivered over a course of visits so the spine has time to respond.
How the DRX9000 Helps Spinal Stenosis
- Opens Up the Crowded Space. Gently separating the vertebrae gives the nerves more room where they're being pinched.
- Reduces Disc Bulging. In many people with stenosis, a bulging disc is part of what's narrowing the canal. Negative pressure encourages it to retract.
- Relieves Pressure on the Nerve Roots. Less pressure means less of the heaviness, tingling, and numbness that show up in the legs when you walk.
- Eases the Low Back Tightness. The back muscles that brace against stenosis get a chance to let go once the pressure comes off.
- Rehydrates Aging Discs. Discs that have lost water content sit flatter, which narrows the openings further. Decompression draws fluid back in.
- Extends Your Walking Distance. The thing most people notice first is that they get farther before the legs start to complain.
- Helps You Stand Up Straight Again. Leaning forward on the cart is a coping strategy. As the space opens, many people find they don't need it as much.
- Non-Surgical and Drug-Free. A sensible option to try before considering anything more invasive, and one with no downtime.
Benefits at a Glance
- Non-Surgical: Relief without an operating room.
- Drug-Free: Addresses the mechanics instead of masking the pain.
- Comfortable: Most people find the sessions genuinely relaxing.
- Targeted: Computer-controlled and specific to the level involved.
- Complementary: Works alongside your adjustments and other care.
Fall is meant to be walked through, not watched from a bench. Contact our office to find out whether DRX9000 Spinal Decompression is right for you.
Boost Circulation and Recover Faster as the Temperatures Drop with Pulse PEMF
The first cool mornings are wonderful right up until you notice your hands and feet don't warm up the way they used to, the calves cramp after a Saturday of raking, and the soreness from yard work hangs on into Tuesday. Cooler weather tightens things up — blood vessels narrow, muscles stay tense longer, and everything from a sore shoulder to a tired back takes longer to bounce back. Your body heals by delivering blood, oxygen, and nutrients to the tissue that needs it and clearing out what it doesn't. When circulation slows down, so does recovery. Pulse PEMF is one of the most effective ways we have to get that process moving again.
What Is Pulse PEMF?
Pulse PEMF stands for Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy. It delivers gentle, low-frequency electromagnetic pulses through the body's tissues, energizing cells and encouraging them to function the way healthy cells should. Think of it as exercise for your cells — the pulses stimulate cellular metabolism, support blood flow, and help the body's own repair processes work more efficiently. A session simply means relaxing on a comfortable mat or with an applicator placed over a particular area, fully clothed. Most people feel a mild, pleasant pulsing and nothing more. It's non-invasive, drug-free, and used by professional athletes and everyday folks alike.
How Pulse PEMF Supports Circulation and Recovery
- Supports Healthy Blood Flow. The pulses help blood vessels open up and move blood more freely, including to hands and feet that go cold and stiff in the fall.
- Delivers Oxygen and Nutrients. Better circulation means the tissue that's sore and worn out actually gets what it needs to repair.
- Helps Clear Out Waste. Recovery isn't just about what comes in. Improved flow helps the body move out the byproducts that leave muscles stiff and achy.
- Reduces Post-Chore Soreness. The raking, hauling, and ladder work of fall cleanup shouldn't cost you the rest of the week.
- Eases Muscle Tension and Cramping. Muscles that stay tight in the cold relax more readily when circulation and cellular energy improve.
- Energizes Tired Cells. PEMF supports the cell's ability to produce energy, which is the foundation of every repair the body makes.
- Supports Comfortable Joints. Better blood flow around stiff, cold-weather joints helps them move more easily.
- Complements Your Adjustments. Tissue that's well supplied with blood holds a correction better and recovers faster between visits.
Benefits at a Glance
- Non-Invasive: No needles, no incisions, nothing to take.
- Relaxing: Most people find the sessions restful.
- Whole-Body Benefit: Supports circulation and recovery from head to toe.
- Fast Sessions: Easily fits into a lunch break or a stop on the way home.
- Drug-Free: Works with your body's own healing.
Don't let the cool weather slow you down. Contact our office to schedule a Pulse PEMF session.
Support Your Heart, Brain, and Joints This Fall with Tuna Omega-3 Oil
Fall is when the eating habits shift, too. The garden tomatoes are gone, the tailgate food and the chili suppers are here, and the fresh fish and lighter meals of summer get replaced by heavier fare. That's a fine trade in a lot of ways, but one thing that tends to fall off the plate is omega-3 fatty acids — the healthy fats found in cold-water fish that support the heart, the brain, and the joints. Most of us don't get nearly enough of them from food, and that shows up as everything from stiffer joints on a cold morning to a mind that feels a little duller than it should. Tuna Omega-3 Oil from Standard Process is a simple way to put that back.*
What Is Tuna Omega-3 Oil?
Tuna Omega-3 Oil is a Standard Process supplement that provides the omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA from sustainably sourced tuna oil, in an easy-to-take softgel. DHA is a major structural component of the brain and the eyes, and EPA and DHA together support the body's normal inflammatory response, cardiovascular health, and healthy skin.* Standard Process has been making whole food–based supplements for practitioners for more than 90 years and holds every product to rigorous quality and purity standards — which matters a great deal when the product is fish oil.*
How Tuna Omega-3 Oil Supports Your Health
- Supports Heart Health. EPA and DHA are among the best-studied nutrients for supporting normal cardiovascular function.*
- Supports Brain Function. DHA is a building block of brain tissue and supports memory, focus, and cognitive health.*

Hit the Fall Trails Without Sore Feet, Shins, and Knees with Foot Levelers
The next few weeks are the best hiking of the year. Roan Mountain, the Appalachian Trail, Laurel Falls, the trails around Watauga Lake — the color is coming in, the bugs are gone, and the air is perfect. But a trail is not a sidewalk. It's roots, rocks, slopes, and side-hills, and every step asks the feet to adapt. When the arches aren't doing their job, the ankles roll a little more, the shins burn on the descents, the knees take the brunt of every downhill, and by the last mile the arches are aching. Then there's the drive home stiff and a Monday spent hobbling. The fix starts at the bottom, with a foundation built for the ground you're actually walking on.
What Are Foot Levelers Orthotics?
Foot Levelers orthotics are custom-made Stabilizing Orthotics built from a 3D scan of your individual feet. Unlike a generic insole off the shelf — which typically addresses one arch, if any — they're designed to support all three arches of the foot, creating a balanced, level platform for the ankles, knees, hips, and spine stacked above them. They come in styles built for hiking boots and athletic shoes, work boots, dress shoes, everyday wear, and even sandals. We offer a free foot scan right here in the office.
How Foot Levelers Support Fall Hiking
- Supports All Three Arches. Full support keeps the foot stable on uneven ground instead of collapsing with every rock and root.
- Steadies the Ankles. A stable foot rolls less, which means fewer of those heart-stopping near-twists on a side-hill.
- Reduces Shin Stress. Proper arch support takes the strain off the muscles that burn on long descents.
- Protects the Knees on the Downhill. Downhill hiking loads the knees hard. Balanced foot mechanics spread that load instead of grinding one side.
- Eases Arch and Heel Fatigue. Miles on the trail shouldn't end with aching arches.
- Keeps the Hips and Back Level. A level foundation means the whole structure above it isn't compensating for hours at a time.
- Speeds the Bounce-Back. Better mechanics on the trail mean less soreness on Monday.
- Complements Chiropractic Adjustments. Adjustments hold better when the foundation beneath the spine is level and stable.
Benefits at a Glance
- Custom Made: Built from a scan of your own feet, not a generic mold.
- Whole-Body Benefit: Support that reaches the knees, hips, and back.
- Free Scan: No cost to find out what your feet actually need.
- Multiple Styles: Hiking, work boot, casual, dress, and sandal options.
- Durable: Built to hold up trail after trail.
The color won't wait. Contact our office to schedule a free Foot Levelers scan before your next hike.
